  • First Grade Arrival & Dismissal – Door A
  • The school day starts at 8:10 AM and ends at 2:30 PM. Please make sure your child comes to school on time.
  • Students have Recess from 10:28 AM – 10:50 AM; First grade Lunch is from 10:50 AM – 11:18 AM
  • Please review and return your child’s Homework everyday; please clean out your child’s daily folder each day.

Literacy

Into Reading: Unit 4– Better Together (continued)

Focus: Students will listen to and read stories and informational texts about getting along and being a good sport.

  • Essential skills: ideas and support, topic and central ideas, evaluate, point of view, speaking and listening: give and follow instructions

Writing

Into Reading: Writer’s Workshop Unit 4- Writing Form: Procedural Text (continued)

Students will write a “how-to” book about how to make a new friend.

  • Focal Text: Do Unto Otters: A Book About Manners by Laurie Keller

Math

Illustrative Mathematics Unit 4– Numbers to 99

  • Focus: Students will develop an understanding of place value for numbers  up to 99 and to the base-ten system. The understanding students develop about units of ten and ones will be the foundation of base-ten work.

Social Studies

Passport to Social Studies, Unit 2 – Families, Now and Long Ago (continued)

  • Focus: Students will identify how families have changed over time by comparing and contrasting families from today to families from long ago.

Science

Amplify Science Unit 2 – Light and Sound (continued)

  • Focus: Students will be able to take on the role of light and sound engineers by investigating cause-and-effect relationships and learn about the nature of light and sound
