Math
We will be learning about multiplying by 2-digit whole numbers. Students will learn how to describe reasonableness of an estimate. You can expect to see homework that provides practice with estimation and multiplication of numbers with more than 1 digit.

Science
In the Energy Conversions Unit, students take on the role of systems engineers for Ergstown, a fictional town that experiences frequent blackouts. Throughout the unit, they explore reasons why an electrical system may fail.
Social Studies
In this unit, you will explore the entire state of New York through its geography the physical features of a place.
Reading
In module 3, students explore stories about people who overcome challenges. Through historical fiction, they’ll learn to recognize key story elements like plot and theme while deepening their understanding of new texts. Students will also read and view a mix of genres—including narrative nonfiction, autobiographical fiction, and a play—to connect ideas and build their knowledge as readers.
Writing
In Module 3 students will learn how to write opinion essays that persuade their readers. They’ll discover how writers use strong, convincing language to express their ideas and encourage others to agree or take action. Students will practice sharing their opinions clearly and supporting them with reasons and evidence.
