Math
Students will continue to learn multiplication and division. Each student will understand properties of multiplication, represent and solve problems involving multiplication and division, and understand the relationship between multiplication and division.
*Please work on memorizing your multiplication facts with your child at home.
Science
In Unit 1 of Amplify Science, “Balancing Forces,” students have been exploring the problem of the floating train. In chapter 3, students will explore the concepts of gravity by answering the question, “Why does the train fall?” In chapter 4 students will explore why the train floats even though gravity is acting on.
Social Studies
Unit 1: Part 2- Culture
To conclude our unit on geography, students will learn how various cultures use geographical features to help meet their basic needs. Students will also be learning about their cultures and their classmates’ culture during Media class.
Reading
In our next reading unit, Into Reading Module 4, students will be able to answer the essential question, “Why might some stories be better told as plays?” The reading skills covered in this module include elements of drama, as well as literacy elements. Students will practice retelling stories and summarizing the details through plays and other videos.
Writing
In Module 4 of Into Reading, students will publish a narrative. The theme of the stories will be around how family and friends can always help us. Children will learn how to integrate narrative elements and dialogue. Students will include a problem, solution, and lesson learned as well. During the grammar portion of our writing block, students will study pronouns, plural nouns, and the proper use of quotation marks.
