Math
Chapter 5: Division
During the next few weeks, we will be learning how to divide by 1-digit numbers. You can expect to see homework that provides practice modeling division and using the division algorithm Please continue to practice multiplication facts with your child as this will help them with division.
Chapter 7: Factors and Multiples
The students will study and learn the meaning of factors and multiples and understand the concepts of prime and composite numbers.
Science
In the Energy Conversions Unit, students take on the role of systems engineers for Ergstown, a fictional town that experiences frequent blackouts. Throughout the unit, they explore reasons why an electrical system may fail.
Social Studies
Students will be learning about what makes a complex society. Students will research and study how the Native Americans interacted with the environment and developed unique cultures.
Reading
In the Into Reading Module 4, students will focus on the genre of fairy tales and myths. We will be working on skills including text and graphic features, point of view and theme. Students will also build their vocabulary. Students will also come across narrative nonfiction texts.
Writing
In Writing Module 4 students are writing narrative stories. They are going to use purposeful organizational structure to create the plot of their narrative. Their story will have a clear setting and the events will be described in detail. Students will develop interesting characters that will navigate finding a solution to the problem they created in their narrative.
